Yoroi Hitatare (Armour Robe)

There are many styles and there is no regulation governing them; they were probably taken from the happi, hitatare, kariginu, etc. These are the names of different kinds of coat. Some of them are completed with a shimo (skirt). If the sleeves are very wide, a thin cord may be run through them and secured to the shoulder. If the sleeves are fitted with the sode-kukuri (sleeve fasteners), then the tie them up to your arms. An ancient record says that the ouguchi and oukatabira (styles of coat) were also worn as yoroi-hitatare, but they are never so worn at present.
