Wakabiki (armpit protectors)This should not be confused with the wakidate, which is quite a different thing. There are kusari-wakibiki (made of small chain), tsunagi maru-wakibiki, etc. There are also varieties distinguished by the method of fastening, as botangake (with buttons), kohaze-gake (with hooks [frogs, toggles]), and himo-tsuki (with cords). I will explain how to put on tsunagi wakibiki. (Tsunagi means connected, the two sides are connected into one piece.) Put your arms through the shoulder loops and then fasten the other cords to the chest. |
